Axis and Allies Guadalcanal

Unwrapped from the shrink A&A Guadalcanal.  I have had this for many years -- it was on sale as surplus post Christmas stock many years ago for a song.  And its a good game.  its not that historical -- no battles in the slot etc.  But the is lots of strategy to think through.  I managed to win because I groked that building airfields first was the key to victory.  But having the airfields also allowed me to sink a carrier with a massed air strike -- enough bombers got through to do the damage.

Field Commander Napoleon - 1798

I have had Field Commander Napoleon for two years, but it hadn't been played.  But I had a gap in my schedule, so I broke it out.  And what a fun system.  Napoleon won, but he made a few blunders -- so only a marginal victory.  But I am ready for the next game now!!!

A visit to Jim's

Dropped in to watch a game.  Jim was experimenting with his new rules -- Musket Action.  They looked good!  Draw from the bag to move a unit -- like bolt action with lots of officers.

Fate of a Nation

My first play of the V4 FOW rules.  Mostly I like the rules.  But the morale rules are broken -- big units fight to the death even if they have bad morale.

The scenario was the sample scenario with the castle on the web site for FOW.  It looks impossible for the Israeli's to win -- and I think it is.  We played the variant where each side has two units off table -- this hampers the Egyptians more than the Israelis.  And I had phenomenal dice -- I couldn't stop rolling sixes.  But I still couldn't kill enough Egyptians.

I will play V4 again -- but with the V3 morale test rules!

Imperial Assault - Twin Shadows - End of the Campaign

It was close, but this time the rebels got a win.  Only one Rebel wasn't wounded -- so the game could have gone either way!

Kemet Again

We really enjoyed Kemet.  So played it again!
