FOW States
Played in the Kingston Kup competition.
I took two lists, chosen randomly. My mail list was British Infantry Tank.
Compulsory Infantry Tank Company HQ (p.120) - CinC A11 Matilda, 2iC Light Tank Mk VI B (90 pts)
Compulsory A12 Tank Platoon (p.121) - Command A12 Matilda Senior, A12 Matilda Senior (475 pts)
Compulsory A11 Tank Platoon (p.121) - Command A11 Matilda (0.5" MG), 2x A11 Matilda (200 pts)
A11 Tank Platoon (p.121) - Command A11 Matilda (0.5" MG), 2x A11 Matilda (200 pts)
A11 Tank Platoon (p.121) - Command A11 Matilda (0.5" MG), 2x A11 Matilda (200 pts)
Rifle Platoon (Territorial) (p.125) - Command Rifle/MG, 6x Rifle/MG, Light Mortar, Anti-tank Rifle (145 pts)
Motorised Battery, Royal Artillery (p.121) - Command Rifle, Staff, Observer Rifle, 15-cwt truck, 4x OQF 18 pdr gun (225 pts)
- 2x 15-cwt truck, Quad tractor per gun (5 pts)
1540 Points, 6 Platoons
I also bought a German company to prevent Blue on Blue. Had some really good games.
Game 1 was a draw. I was on the objectives, but the Germans kept contesting it, and we timed out.
Game 2 was a disaster. I was against Nick Ridge's German light panzers. I couldnt kill them. But they couldnt kill me. As it was a defensive mission, they won.
Game 3 was against Rusty's poles. I was using my Germans. I held on for a win -- but it was touch and go for a while.
Game 4 was against Griggsy. He had no naswer to my Matilda as they walked to the objective.
Game 5 was against Robs BAR. I was using my Germans, and I had no answer to the thousands of small tanks. How did the British lose in France?
I ended up in the middle of the pack, but it was a great 2 days!
It was also a robotics weekend, so I played Scythe with the robotics kids!

Stalingrad
Played over 3 days (though I only played the first 2 days)
Game 1 was a fight over a hill. I was Russian, and had to defend. At a critical point I failed morale to assault a weakened German position, and ended up being pushed back off the crest. Loss to me.
Game 2 was the grain elevator. I had a chance for victory, trying to assault 3 times but being pushed back when the defensive fire rolled above average. Result was a draw.
Game 3 was an attack to retake a nearby Russian village. It started off badly when the German artillery kept surviving everything I could throw at it. But a flank attack by T-70's was extremely successful. A close game where I scraped a victory.

Last Game at LGC for a few months
Had a game at the LGC with Rob and Malcolm.
It was 2 on 1. Technically we lost, because on of the Russian companies broke -- even though the other got to the objective and handily held it.

KK Practice
A practice game for the Kingston Kup.
Rod was German, with a German Herman Goering Infantry list that was just deadly on paper. However, the practice game showed it lacked maneuverability. I left the infantry core and picked of the maneuverable components.

KK Practice
Rob and I each tried out armies for KK. Rob was German, with a horde o' tanks! I was British infantry, with some AT (but not enough AT). Scenario was Pincer. Rob overran the foward objective and walked to victory!

Dogs of War 2016 -- Day 2
After being crushed twice on Day 1 of the Dogs tournament, I came back with two wins to finish in the middle of the pack.
Game 3 was against Rusty. It was Hasty Attack. I managed to kill all of his advancing forces for a 5:2 victory. Rusty was terribly unlucky, but this was a fantastic gentleman's game.
Game 4 was against Smithy. He had German infantry in a 'Dust Up'. Smithy should have won -- he was incredibly unlucky with my aircraft coming on repeatedly, whereas his planes almost never showed up. And I managed to make my morale checks when I needed them.
Final result was:
1st Place - Leigh, with a perfect score.
2nd Place - Griggsy
3rd Place - Pat and Smithy
Ben rolling for victory
Smithy vs Lowell. This was going to be a 6-1 one way or the other. Smithy managed to gain the victory, but it was actually close.
Pat deep in thought
My game vs Rusty.
A tense game -- Rob vs Pat. Lots of spectators.
Can Rob gain the victory? It was close, but Pat managed to pull out the win,

Tie fighter horde
X-Wing at the club tonight. Daniel showed us some tricks, given he has several years experience.
We had 100 points each in a 2 vs 2 game. Me and Rob as the good guys, while Daniel and Lowell were those scum resistance folks that keep blowing up our ships.
At first the empire was doing well, when we shot down Bobba Fett (who was a mercenary for hire for the resistance).
But then the resistance got close. They had autoblasters, and their close in firepower was destroying a ship or two a turn. We just couldnt stand against them!!!
The battle was actually close. If we had rolled a bit better, and taken out the resistance B-Wing, we could have kept our distance from the resistance and blasted them at long range!

X-Wing
X-Wing with Rob. My Tie fighters were comprehensively destroyed by Rob -- I managed to hang on, but when I conceded all of my fighters were one hit away from destruction, and I had lost my two aces.

Rommel is Useless
The bunker rats FOW Tournament.
My list was:
German Schutzen
Infantry Company, from Blitzkrieg, page 74
Compulsory Schutzen Company HQ (p.75) - CinC SMG, 2iC SMG, 2x Motorcycle and sidecar (45 pts)
- Warrior Erwin Rommel in Panzer 38(t) (must have other units with Panzer 38(t) (130 pts)
Compulsory Schutzen Platoon (p.75) - Command Rifle/MG, 6x Rifle/MG, Light mortar, Kfz 15 field car, 4x Kfz 70 truck (180 pts)
- Replace Command Rifle/MG with Command SMG (0 pts)
- Anti-tank rifle (20 pts)
Compulsory Schutzen Platoon (p.75) - Command Rifle/MG, 6x Rifle/MG, Light mortar, Kfz 15 field car, 4x Kfz 70 truck (180 pts)
- Replace Command Rifle/MG with Command SMG (0 pts)
- Anti-tank rifle (20 pts)
Czech Panzer Platoon (p.73) - Command Panzer 38(t) B, 3x Panzer 38(t) B (350 pts)
Anti-tank Gun Platoon (p.103) - Command SMG, 2x 3.7cm PaK36 gun (75 pts)
- Motorcycle and sidecar, Kfz 70 truck per gun (5 pts)
Heavy Anti-tank Gun Platoon (p.106) - Command Rifle, 8.8cm FlaK36 gun (190 pts)
- Extra Crew (10 pts)
- Kfz 15 field car, Sd Kfz 7 half-track per gun (5 pts)
Motorised Light Artillery Battery (p.104) - Command SMG, Staff, Observer Rifle, Motorcycle and sidecar, 4x 10.5cm leFH18 howitzer (360 pts)
- Kfz 15 field car, Kfz 68 radio truck, Sd Kfz 11 half-track per gun (5 pts)
Air Support (p.102) - Priority Ju 87B Stuka (Schwerpunkt) (175 pts)
1750 Points, 6 Platoons
I had a simple plan -- use Rommel and his 38(t) panzer platoon to machine gun down the Russian horde. Rommel's platoon rerolls failed stormtrooper rolls, so 8 times out of 9 at the end of any turn his platoon should be safely hiding behind terrain and impossible to target. But, on turn 1, Rommel's platoon failed the stomtrooper roll. Rommel failed the reroll. Leaving the germsn 38(t) platoon in front of the massed anti tank guns of the Soviet army - who did mass destruction. Rommel wasn't killed, he was the last tank left. He failed morale and ran away.
With nothing to worry the Soviet T-35's they leisurely moved over to the objective. OK -- it wasn't that leisurely -- the Stukas did kill one, and there were several bails. Net result: 4:3 victory to Lowell.
There were some other games being played as well.
Round 2 was vs Rusty and his Polish army.
The Poles have an interesting rule, where an infantry platoon can come on from behind the attackers.
The germans attacked on their left (far edge in the picture). Yet again, Rommel failed his stormtrooper and the reroll, leaving his panzers stuck under an artillery bombardment. The Poles did a lot of damage, killing three tanks. Rommel ran for cover the next turn, but another artillery barrage killed the remaining tank. By this time the German infantry was ready to assault the objective. Rommel joined in, as any platoon he joins becomes fearless. The assault was bloody, but the Germans won. But after the assault the German infantry had to take a morale test, which they failed. Rommel chose to reroll, and he failed (and ran away)
Then the Polish infantry arrived behind the German artillery, killing the AT gun platoon, 88 platoon, and damaging the Artillery. At this point the Germans controlled the objective, but had taken 4 out of 6 platoon losses. The battle came down to a morale check -- if I passed, I won (having the objective). if I failed, Rusty won. I failed, and Rusty won a glorious 4:3 victory.
A couple of the other games
Round 3 was against Jim, who had an almost identical army. Instead of Rommel and Artillery, he had an extra 38(t), machine guns, mortars, and and extra infantry platoon.
Jim attacks, as with bigger artillery the long game was in my favour. The critical battle was on my right, where Jim's 5 tanks faced my 4 tanks. The battle swung back and forth, but eventually Jim suffered two bails, with two tanks destroyed, and failed morale. The remaining German tanks raced to the far objective. Jim launched some desperate assaults with his infantry -- one was beaten off, but the other was an almost untouched platoon against Rommel and two AT guns -- it would have been a massacre, except that the infantry failed their morale test to attack Rommel's tank. For the first time in the tournament, Rommel did something! A bloody 4:3 to me.
