ADLG Reprise

Its a long time since we did ADLG.  We had a 4 player 300 point game - each player with two commands.  Sassanids vs Romans.  When we quit, the Sassanids had done the most damage, so they won.  But one of their generals was dead, their camp was exposed, and another command was flanked.  Ross and Carl we Sassanids, and Jack and I were Romans.

Carl's Magnificent Cave

Played Art de la Guerre with Carl.  His games room is amazing.  Not the least because of the vintage games stuff he has!

Carl crushed me.  Another turn and his pikes in the center would have folded -- but his flanks both won convincingly.

3d printer test print

Carl was thinking of printing an Italian force for FOW.  A test print of an italian tank next to a battlefront resin version of the same tank.  Not bad at all, though I think the turret needs to be scaled down a little bit.

Big Elephants!

Carl did Alexander vs Porus using 28mm figures.  They look fantastic!

Indian Chariots!

The battle line set up.  Cavalry in the middle of Alexander's line though!!!   What was he thinking!!!

Those pikes are intimidating!

Carl takes some pictures

The battle lines close.  Alexander has redeployed his cavalry, leaving a hole in his line!

Disaster - -Alexanders light troops fall to the Indian bowmen

But before the bowmen can escalate, the Elephants in front of the pikes start dying.  Suddenly Alexander is winning on one flank

On the other flank bow fire was taking its toll of the phalanx.  But with one flank collapsing, the Indians had to charge in!

The final position.  The Indian chariots have charged but are losing to the companions.  Alexanders right flank has crushed everything in front of it,  The Indian center is about to be outflanked.

Art de la Guerre -- Samurai

Carl and John had an Art de la Guerre battle using Samuarai at Griggsy's place.  I provided a table and rules, but otherwise spectated.

Art de la Guerre -- War of the Roses

My Lancastrian force, led by Percy, moved South.  With Scottish pikemen, northern militia, and a small retinue I came up against Carl with an elite force of knights and archers.

It was a close game.  Carl broke my force.  But if he hadnt I would have broken him next turn with 3 flank attacks about to charge home.  So close but so far!

Carl's damned Yorkists!

Lancastrian Scots showing the Yorkists the right amount of respect!

Art de la Guerre -- Romans vs Britons

More Art de la Guerre.

A very, very, very close game, that could have gone either way.  I won, as Romans -- but I was teetering on the brink of defeat for the last 3 turns!

The Romans are charging the Britons before they can be outflanked.

Carl plotting an evil plan!

A blurry contact

What happens here -- can the cavalry attack the lone skirmisher, as it cant adjust?

The end -- The Romans have broken the British center, but have been outflanked.  A Phyrric victory!

Art de la Guerre -- Macedonians vs Indians

A close game, where the pikes were devastating, but the Indians managed to outflank the Macedonians on each flank to get a victory.

Art de la Guerre -- Byzantines vs Sassanids

Nick (Byzantines) vs Sassanids (Carl).

Carl creamed me, killing 2 of my 3 generals, and paralyzing my army.  I tried to outmaneuver, stuffed it, and was comprehensibly defeated!!!

The Byzantine flank march came on in the first turn, giving away its position.

The Sassanids organize a defense

The Byzantine line forms

Carl records his imminent victory.
