Managed to get Martha and Cass to play Axis and Allies. And they both said it was OK, though not their favorite!
There were some unusual strategies. Russia (Martha) went into heavy bombers. Germany (Rob) went into submarines. USA (Cass) went into lots of even odds attacks against the Japanese and liberated Pacific Russia.
Finally, after 3 years, got to play FOW V4.
A lot has been removed from V3. it is a simpler game. And in many respects I like it. But rockets had no downsides, and artillery could shoot from in a forest!
Got to play Star Wars Rebellion with the expansion. It is a much better game due to the possibilities of different leaders.
Ross crushed me. I will pretend it was close, but it wasnt!
Two games of Command and Colors. The plan was to play a game, and then swap tables. We played:
- Ancients - the battle of Himera. I, as Syracuse, lost to Cameron as Carthaginians. Ross and Simon played two games, swapping sides. Simon won both.
- Great War - Somme scenario #2. Simon won as British. I also won as British, but my victory was 7-6 against Cameron, so really close.
After a year, our Charterstone campaign resumed. I am well behind - I had almost forgotten how to play!
We finished mid-evening, with not enough time to do a second game, so we then played Seven Wonders.
When I hike with Martha, I often end up trailing behind. I have a set of pictures of her off in the distance. This was how my scoring was in this game - Martha streaked ahead and almost lapped me! My strategy was obviously crap!
Started off with Wingspan. Finished early enough to play a few games of 'The Crew' - which was great!
Simon refereed a game using Command Decision. I loved these rules! But there was some fiddlyness with the orders.
Seven Player Root. Also joined by Ella the Wonder Dog.
Turns out we got lots of rules wrong. But it was fun!
Its a long time since we did ADLG. We had a 4 player 300 point game - each player with two commands. Sassanids vs Romans. When we quit, the Sassanids had done the most damage, so they won. But one of their generals was dead, their camp was exposed, and another command was flanked. Ross and Carl we Sassanids, and Jack and I were Romans.
