We all did so much better -- I beat the high score for the last game -- and was the lowest scorer.  Bellfair allows much more player interaction.

 An interesting issue -- the magazine is really starting to get going.

Highlights:

Dunnigan on the inability to publish games - "We will try to get many of these published, if only in abbreviated form in S&T"

Gary Gygax advertised a game for sale.

An interview with AH on games publishing.

Virtually nothing on tabletop gaming though!

 I got the Everdell Complete Collection.  It is BIG!!!!!

We just played the basic game.  Simple and fun!

Arkham Horror - Dream Eaters III B

 Ross and I were both defeated.  Before I or Ross could power up, we were attacked by various powerful ghouls.  I spent most of the game evading at low odds, because I couldnt get my power ups down!

Crushed by a Beginner

 Andrew is new to Hobart, and was looking for some historical wargamers.  I invited him up to play Art de la Guerre.  He was Carthaginian, and crushed my center as the Romans.

 As we continued through the dream world, we got past all horrors and continued on our journey with ease!

Awkward Detecting Between Two Cities

 Ryan had some light 6 player games.

Between Two Cities.  Fun.  But your destiny really isnt in your control.  If you maximise points you need to count points and be boring.  I liked it -- but only as a light game.  

Awkward Guests is a deduction game.  Lots of fun.  But the secret is to hide information from other players, and that makes it almost a guessing game.

Strategy & Tactics 015 - Trafalgar

An article on the new game - Trafalgar.  Which didnt really excite me.  But it was only $7!

Most notable was a description of a wargames convention run by a Mr Gary Gygax.

Arkham Horror: Dream Eaters #2B

 Time is freeing up, so we got to the next Arkham Horror game.

This game was easy -- we explored and got through the haunted house with almost no encounters - but got very few victory points.  

A quick HOGS

 A busy day with the Tahune Air Walk, followed by dropping Maria and Marina off at various social gatherings.  In between being a taxi, I dropped into HOGS for an hour.  Played Galaxy Trucker.

Adding Ryan

 A new person to the group -- Ryan.

Played Dune with the new factions.  

Rob fought a battle, and his army was destroyed in a nuclear explosion.

Rob fought a battle, and his army was destroyed by a traitor.

Rob didnt win a single battle in the whole game.  he still won in alliance with Cass.

More Desert Warfare

 Tigris and Euphrates.

I get the appeal of this game

Ark  Nova.  Which is similar in so many ways to Terraforming Mars.

As Martha said -- I get the appeal of this game.  Even though I was destroyed -- I had to change strategies and couldnt catch up!   

How long has it been?

Many, many months ago I set up a WWI C&C game.  We finally got to play it.  Followed by the next chapter in Arkham Horror Dream Eaters.

Spring Gamefest

 Recovering from the flu, but went along to the Hobart Gaming Society Spring Gamefest with Fernanda and Maria.

Started off with Sushi Go -- which was fun.

Moved on to Dixit, which Fernanda and Maria loved so much I need to buy.

The Girls played Machi Koro, while I dove into Deep Sea Adventure.

Finally, Wingspan -- which Maria nailed, almost doubling my score!

Strategy & Tactics 014 - 1914

This issue covered the game '1914'.  I found the coverage really good -- so much that I would have bought the game if I could.  And it was all of $7!!!!

Apparently, S&T almost went bankrupt before this issue.  Financial troubles follow S&T for many years -- I am so glad they didnt go under.  This is still not the magazine it would become -- but it is getting closer!

 

Strategy & Tactics 013

 This was the issue where S&T changed from monthly to every two months -- a format they still use.

The articles were much improved.  But what I found most interesting was articles on counter-insurgency.  I suddenly realised that the Vietnam war was raging as this was being written.

I really enjoyed the article on the Battle of Britain, which was half of the issue.

 Dropped by Simon's place to watch Simon and Ross play Waterloo

Birthday Betrayal

 Back from fishing, we had a full house.  Except at the last minute Cass bailed.  We had agreed to play Dune, and we played a 5 player game.

I was allied with Ross, but he ditched me to play with Andrew.

I was allied with Martha, but she ditched me to play with Rob

In the end Martha got the win by dragging the clock out.

Disconcordia

 5 player Concordia.

I failed miserably!

Strategy & Tactics 012

 Another issue I didnt find that interesting.  However, two articles of interest:

- start of a set of naval rules

- a discussion on Napoleonics, with some interesting looks at basing for 25mm figures and a discussion on how it is hard to get some figures.

Post Port Arthur

 Went to Port Arthur and the Tasman Peninsular.  A great day.  When we got home all were tired, so we played a game of Tokaido.  It was close 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were all separated by 1 point!

Kingmaker and farewell Maria

 Kingmaker was showing its age, especially with all of the odd rules.  But most of us enjoyed it.  Except Cass.  Memo to self -- dont offer to play Kingmaker to Cass :)

(Martha won because it was late and everyone was tired - so she was voted the winner!)

Maria (the cat) died later that night :(

Strategy & Tactics 052 - Oil War

 Just me and Andrew, so we got out one of the old classics!  The game is dated, but fun.  And it bought back memories!

Smiling Evil

 Joking.  But Martha was the only person to survive the Nemesis.  Her goal was for me to die, which she achieved by studiously not helping me.  But she also didnt help anyone else, and they also perished!  (Nemesis with the Void Seeders expansion)
